Introducing Sandi DeRuntz - Founder & CEO of her own company: ZipperBuddy! An adaptable clothing device to help people with upper mobility issues close their jackets.

Sandi’s story is compelling, after years of playing in a band and touring the country doing stand-up comedy, she decided to go back to school to be a lawyer, being the founder and CEO of her own company was not in the plan, not until she met Bob.

Sandi first heard about Bob’s story in an adaptable devices class. Bob explained that after having a stroke, he only had use of one side of his body, meaning he couldn’t zip his jacket on his own.

Sandi felt inspired by Bob’s story and understood his struggles because of her own disability. Immediately she got to work creating a ZipperBuddy, a device that attaches to any jacket zipper and then can be opened or closed with one hand.

Flash forward to now, only a year later, and ZipperBuddy is now on the market!

Sandi’s story is a powerful reminder that with hard work, belief in yourself, and the right support system, you can accomplish anything.

If you want to hear about the secrets of starting a business, how Sandi leveraged her university’s resources, and the advice she has for other students pursuing their dreams, don’t miss this episode.
